So you feel that you are ready to buy a bass guitar, but you’re not sure where to start? Now before you just walked into a guitar shop and buy the first bass guitar they give you, it would be wise to gather some knowledge about the different variations may be facing.
Here are some key terms and features that will be a good idea to familiarize yourself with before you select your first bass.

Scale Length
The length scale is measured in inches and refers to the long string bass vibrations. The longer the neck on the bass would mean that the length scale will be longer. A bass player with small hands will want to buy a bass on a smaller scale, because large-scale bass guitar has more distance between each fret, and this will make it difficult for them to stretch their restless hands far enough.

Check The Nut Width
Nuts are part of the bass which is located at the top of the guitar neck. Usually plastic, white parts with the mechanism guiding the string to the tunning pegs. Nut width is just wide neck nut. Once again, the larger nuts will just provide someone with small hands profitable.

Four String, String … Five?
The first bass in a four-string bass, and for several decades, it remains that way. Today, a bass guitar is available in 4, 5, 6, all the way up to 12 strings. Four and five-string bass are the two most common configurations, but will depend on the style of music you play. The difference between four and five string is that the five-string B added a lower string. Here is the tuning for each:

Pickups are electromagnetic coils that sense the movement played string. This pulse is then converted into electronic signals that you recognize the amp. There are three most common styles.
1. Single-Coil – This is more than traditional forms of the pickup, but are awesome. They gave Fender Jazz and Precision Bass tone.
1. Humbucking – voted hot fat with this dual-coil pickups. Both coils combine and eliminate hum for a quieter operation.
1. Silent – this pickup is a combination of the two previous. They have an authentic voice-coil, but with the quietness of the humbucking pickup.
When it comes to buy bass guitar, you must remember that the Basses and people come in all shapes and sizes. For this reason, it is a very good idea to test many different styles so you can feel what is comfortable for you.
